Khamira Josh E Shahi Mumsik Muqavvi from Hikmat Remedies is a classical Unani khamira, supplied in a 200 g jar. A khamira is a semi-solid preparation in which herbs are worked into a honey base, and this one is built around the three classical myrobalans together with almond and honey.
Key Ingredients
- Amla (Emblica officinalis) — Indian gooseberry, one of the three fruits of Triphala and among the richest natural sources of vitamin C
- Balela (Terminalia bellirica) — bahera, the second of the three classical myrobalans
- Haleela (Terminalia chebula) — harad, the third myrobalan, described in classical texts as among the most important single herbs
- Asl (Honey) — the traditional base that preserves the preparation and carries the herbs
About the Khamira Form
The khamira is distinctive to Unani medicine. Herbs are processed with honey or a sugar syrup until the mixture reaches a soft, jam-like consistency. Unlike a dry powder, a khamira does not need to be swallowed with effort, and the honey base preserves it without refrigeration — a practical advantage in Indian conditions. Amla, Balela and Haleela together form Triphala, one of the oldest and most widely used combinations in Indian medicine.
How to Use
Take 5–10 grams (roughly one teaspoon) of Khamira Josh e Shahi Mumsik Muqavvi, mixed with milk or water, or as directed by your physician. Traditionally taken in the morning or after meals.
Storage & Safety
Read the label carefully before use. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Always use a dry spoon and close the jar firmly — moisture shortens the life of a khamira. Not recommended for children, or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless advised by a qualified practitioner.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a prescription? This is a traditional herbal preparation sold over the counter. We still recommend speaking to a qualified practitioner before starting it, particularly if you already take prescription medicines, as some herbs interact with conventional drugs.
Can I take it alongside my regular medicines? Do not assume it is safe to combine. Show the pack to your doctor or hakim and let them decide on timing — many practitioners advise leaving a gap of an hour or two between a herbal preparation and prescription medication.
How long should I take it for? Traditional tonics are taken as a course over several weeks rather than as a one-off dose. Your practitioner will set the length based on you. Taking more than the recommended amount does not shorten a course.
How should I store it once opened? Keep it tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from the stove and out of direct sunlight. Indian humidity is the main enemy of herbal preparations — moisture entering the pack is what spoils them.
How do I know it is genuine? Zevika Health sources directly from the manufacturer and authorised distributors. Every order is dispatched in the manufacturer's sealed pack. Check that the seal is intact and the batch number and expiry date are readable before use.
What if it does not suit me? Stop taking it and consult your practitioner. Our return policy covers unopened items in original packaging within 21 days of delivery; for hygiene reasons opened health supplements cannot be returned.
