About the Patharchatta Plant

Patharchatta (Bryophyllum pinnatum), also called the air plant or life plant, is a succulent whose thick leaves can sprout new plantlets along their edges — which is how it earned its many folk names. It grows readily across India and has a long history in traditional practice. Its Hindi name literally means ‘stone breaker’, which is how it came to be associated with the kidneys in folk usage.
